Demo Policy ----------------------------------------------------------
Any bands interested must send us a demo w/lyrics (very important) and a press kit or bio. We only sign bands with a positive message and Christian bands are encouraged. With so many negative things in the world, we want our music to have a positive impact on people. Mailing Address: The Blue Duck Story -------------------------------------------------- Jason Ronan (CEO) knew the day would come when simply listening to great music would not be enough. It came in college after reading a quote, "Opening your own label is a chance to control the destiny of music you love." With a passion for the local music scene, Jason began studying the music industry, and interning at local record labels, including Somerville MA based Q Division Records and Tone-Cool Records in Wellesley Hills MA. John, a close friend who shared the same vision, soon offered his services, providing superior web and graphic design for the label. The two sold most of their stuff on e-bay to come up with enough money to start the label and help fund their favorite bands with record deals. The contracts, very artist friendly: 50% for the label, 50% for the bands...not typical in an industry where it is commonplace to see bands making pennies on dollars. "Our bands trust us as their friends and business partners; having more income from music sales gives them more opportunities and a fighting chance to succeed. We seek out bands that not only have a great sound but that know how to effectively promote themselves. Most of our artists have college degrees or some college and are quite business savvy. Like Blue Duck Records, they work hard to establish their name and grab as many opportunities as possible." The Blue Duck Business structure is working quite well...along with a solid and steadily growing indie-rock fan base, they now have distribution throughout Japan and soon in the United States. Blue Duck Records would not exist without the help and encouragement of many, many people. Thank you to all who have been a part of our success!
